Stop the Presses: Reese's Peanut Butter Lovers Peanut Butter Cups

It took me three tries to get these babies in front of the camera. This is because every package of Reese's Peanut Butter Lovers Peanut Butter Cups that I purchase is immediately devoured. By me. I really did not believe that anything could truly rival the classic Reese's but these do. They're not all that different than your typical cup except that the top of the cup is comprised of a layer of thicker peanut butter rather than the usual chocolate topper. It works. It's fantastic. The ones pictured here were eaten seconds after the photograph was taken. Buy some now while they're on the market!

Gamer Gummies in "Energy Drink" Flavors

Could a reader please help me identify the "energy drink" flavors in 7-Eleven's Gamer Gummies? 7-Select has offered far more identifiable and pleasing gummy lines in the past. I'm pro-gaming in general and like the little controller gummy shapes--but the gendered boy head and yellow can of energy drink just leave a bad taste in my mouth both literally and figuratively. A gamer line could have included so many more whimsical and imaginative shapes!

Swedish Fish Tails - 2 Flavors in 1

Classic Red Swedish Fish remain ever the best gummy on the market. It's hard to compete with perfection. These Swedish Fish Tails, though, are a fun twist on the original. Each fish blends two flavors, one on the head and one on the tail. Special shout-out to tasty Strawberry and Pineapple in the line-up. I could do without the Mango and Watermelon--those halves were left bitten in the bag.

De la Rosa Pulparin Dots

I love the classic de la Rosa Mazapan (peanut candy marzipan style) so much. It's the ideal sweet bite to keep me going. So on a recent visit to Mexico I was excited to try the company's Pulparin Dots. Tamarind pulp with salt and chili space encased in a sugar shell. Tamarind is a good flavor but the chili and salt were overpowering. It was just a vaguely organic tasting spice bomb in my mouth--with a crunchy shell. I'd like someone else's perspective--someone who loves the mix of sweet and spice, maybe someone who has tasted a number of tamarind-based candies. I think there's more context needed here.

U-Crew Thai Creamery & Tea, Corona, Queens

I randomly stopped into a bubble tea place on lunch break the other day and while ordering my attention was arrested by what appeared to be a very realistic tiny stuffed animal dog toy by the register. As a fan of pups (understatement) I reached out to touch its soft artificial fur and stopped short. Why was it frosty? Why was the clerk reaching to stop my hand? As the tiny dog's "blanket" suggested, this dog is "delicious food," chocolate mouse ice cream, in fact. It's incredible! As yet I remain the same person who used to cry when ice sculptures of animals melted so this also makes me a little bit queasy. It's too real. Uncanny valley. I'm in awe of this feat of ice cream art but couldn't bring myself to take a spoon to that wrinkled face. I'm curious to see what other ice cream creations U-Crew dreams up.

Fantasy Gummies from 7-Eleven: Rainbows, Unicorns and Mermaids

I don't mean to be critical but I don't think this set is very cohesive--the unicorn and mermaid make sense in a fantasy gummy set but am I wrong or are rainbows for real? That's no fantasy--that's a wonderful reality! While I'm on it, there mermaids are super cute but the unicorn shapes are a little confusing. The flavors Rainbow Sherbet and Starfruit are delicious! I would never have identified either flavor but they're tasty nonetheless. Cotton Candy is meh. Overall, worth a taste, but definitely not one of the strongest in 7-Eleven's 7-Select gummy line.

Chocolate Rocks: Shirakiku Stone Shaped Chocolate

I was in it from the beginning for the packaging--it had me at Hello!! The Shirakiku brand stone shaped chocolate are really aesthetically pleasing, too. Interspersing rough and smooth stones in subdued hues, they're some of the best looking versions of the classic candy that I've encountered. Buyer be aware, though, that this is mockolate and not chocolate. If you enjoy Sixlets (which I do), then you will like these crunchy chocolate-y sweet treats. But m&m's these are not. A great novelty candy but it would be far more delicious with real milk chocolate.

Flavor Vote: Thai Coconut Peanut m&m's

For an entirely new flavor, try out Thai Coconut Peanut m&m's. I'm not sure they agreed with my sensibilities of delicious, but they're something different from the rest of the vast m&m's line. The coconut and peanut make a robust flavor combination, with a lot of savory mixed with the sweet. I'd be curious to see people's reactions to these.

As for the flavor vote: British Toffee has my heart!
