A number of years ago obsessivesweets published a blog post entitled, "I Was Right; or, Put Down the Cupcake," begging for the cupcake trend to dissipate. Once something special and delightful, cupcakes saturated the market until one could only roll one's eyes upon seeing a new cupcake shoppe pop up. It's a shame as it's not the cupcakes' fault.
After the cupcakes, the doughnut became trendy, and now we have yet again come to that eye-rolling phase. Again, not the doughnut's fault. Thanks goodness that Bloomberg.com has incited a call to action, a war-cry that we must stop the onslaught and proliferation of too many doughnut shops. A highly recommended read:
