Carrot Cake spells romance to me. The decadent cream cheese frosting mixing with earthy spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. It's simply the best cake out there. It was my wedding cake. It is beloved. All of this is to say that I was so utterly excited to try Hershey's Carrot Cake Kisses for Easter. They're mostly a success. I love the rich cream cheese element in the center of the Kiss. The rich nutmeg and cinnamon come through the orange casing, mixing nicely with the center. The essence of both carrot and cake are missing, though, replaced with a sweeter fruitier simulacrum that tastes quite artificial. I asked taste-tester Mark to name the flavor in a blind taste-test and he guessed Pumpkin Spice. He also is enormously fond of Carrot Cake, so he was disappointed that although the flavor is tasty, it misses the mark with accuracy. I'll still devour the entire bag.
