Vintage Chocolate Bars: The Zero Bar

I hadn't realized that Zero bars hail from all the way back in 1920. I knew the candy bar had a history, but always assumed from the vaguely space-agey look of the packaging that it dated to the 1960's. It's definitely remained a unique offering on the candy bar market, and although I hadn't run into a Zero bar for a number of years, I'm pleased to see them popping up more frequently these days. The Zero consists of a thick nougat center that contains a rich nutty mixture of Almonds, Peanuts, and Caramel. Thick white chocolate fudge surrounds the nougat. The whole thing is a little sweet for me--the white chocolate fudge sends the sweet nougat into the sugar stratosphere. But I also appreciate that such a unique bar has stood its ground in the historical pantheon of candy bars for so long. Long live the Zero bar!
