Halloween Treats: Russell Stover Apple Pie Pumpkin

Guest reviewer Spooky Tricks Abramovich recently offered a relatively negative review of the Russell Stover Red Velvet and Pumpkin Pie Pumpkins (click here to read). Overall I agreed with his assessment of the super sweet pumpkins, although Spooky Tricks scored the Pumpkin Pie as a 2 and the Red Velvet as a "Spit It Out" 1, whereas I would have reversed the two scores. I'm happy to say, though, that there is a winner in the mix of Russell Stover's seasonal dessert-flavored pumpkins- Apple Pie. The surprisingly fresh-tasting mixture of cinnamon and nutmeg with a mellow apple base flavor constitutes a surprisingly realistic representation of a real apple pie in patty form. The patty half-crumbles and half-melts in your mouth and unlike the Red Velvet and Pumpkin Pie flavors there isn't an unpleasant waxy layer left on the tongue. I wish I had purchased more of these treats.

Score: 4
