Technicolor Jelly Bean: Jelly Belly Spring Mix

The new Jelly Belly Spring Mix is such a beautiful palette of cheerful and bright colors. The taste combination is a little funny, blending the clean citrus flavors of the Sunkist line with more blatantly artificial colors like Berry Blue (not to be confused with Blueberry) and Cotton Candy. It's ok, even pretty good. It simply constitutes a mix where you poke through and create smaller flavor combinations rather than a mix where you fill your hand with a random selection and throw them into your gaping maw with abandon. That's the mix I'm ultimately looking for.

Limited Edition Orange Crème Flavored Marshmallow Peeps

Oh wow, these limited edition Orange Crème Flavored Marshmallow Peeps are surprisingly good. Same traditional Peep marshmallow consistency, this time infused with the taste of Orange Julius / Orangesicle. It's a soothing flavor, familiar and not so strong that you lose sight of the subtle marshmallow base.

Easter Candy is Upon Us: Wonka Sweetarts Bunny Gummies

We've only just wrapped up Valentine's Day, but the drugstore shelves are already overflowing with Easter Candy treats. To usher in the candy season we will begin with Wonka Sweetarts Bunny Gummies. I love Sweetarts but that particular tangy chalky flavor doesn't work as well in gummy form. Beautiful colors and I like the tart sugar coating, but I probably wouldn't opt for these as a favored gummy treat. A really cute topping for an Easter-themed cupcake or cake, but don't choose them for the flavor....

Note: I realize now that I reviewed Wonka Sweetarts Bunny Gummies back in 2010 and they were totally different, much closer to a Sour Patch Kid in size and color and consistency that now. Click here to compare the new version with the old....

Wegmans Dark Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt Toffee

Don't discount this Dark Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt Toffee just because it's from mass-retailer Wegmans! I was so pleasantly surprised and pleased at the high-quality of chocolate sold for a low price under the supermarket's brand. Each solid bite melted luxuriously, leaving behind crunchy salty toffee bits to chew on. The darker chocolate base blended nicely with the sweet and salt of the toffee. The Wegmans logo looks a little inelegant on the bar (I'd suggest a little design change). However, overall, this is a great deal for good chocolate. Thanks for the tip, Abe!

Arizona Prickly Pear Gourmet Licorice

Without previous experience with the consumption of prickly pear, I can't speak to the accuracy of flavor of this Arizona Prickly Pear Gourmet Licorice. I can attest, though, that if this is what a prickly pear tastes like, I'd like to try a whole lot more. It's delicious! Like tart cherry with a little citrus zest to it. I loved eating it in licorice form. Have any readers encountered prickly pear sweets? Especially those in the Arizona region? Thanks for the special delivery, Mom!

Valentine's Day Treats: Palmer Cuddly Cuties Toadally Yours

Not the yummiest or highest-quality chocolate, but what an engaging Valentine's Day message wrought in edible form.... I can't help but enjoy the whole line of Palmer Cuddly Cuties....

The Sour Side of Valentine's Day: Trolli Sour Brite Hearts

Yummy super-sour neon gummy hearts by Trolli. There's nothing like drooling from "x-treme" sour sugar to make a fine Valentine's Day candy treat! It's a small package but these extra-sour, extra-bright gummy hearts pack a big punch!

Valentine's Day Chocolate: I Love You Hello Kitty Milk Chocolate

The milk chocolate pieces molded into "I [heart] U" in Hello Kitty packaging is not the tastiest chocolate I've ever encountered. It's somewhat bland and waxy, although I wouldn't say no if offered a chunk of the stuff. That said, the packaging on this Valentine-themed treat is so cute, as is everything in the Hello Kitty line. The visual pay-off for an inexpensive gift is pretty great.

Valentine Sugar Treats: Wonka Gobstopper Heartbreakers

Tart, layered hard candies in zingy flavors. I can't help chewing them loudly and they're addictive. This cheerful bag of holiday sweets disappeared in no time!

Sure Bet For Valentine's Day: Heart Shaped Junior Mints

These Heart Shaped Valentine's Day Junior Mints are the best! Junior Mints are, first off, the yummiest drugstore candy. Or actually the second best after the glorious and unbeatable Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. In this holiday version, the Junior Mint is super festive in the shape of a heart. In addition, some are filled with the classic white peppermint and others are filled with a surprising and jewel-like red filling. (I've written about these enthralling secret colored fillings previously). It's a fantastic treat!

Valentine's Day Sweets: Pearson's Dark Chocolate Mint Patties (in Pink!)

Ooh, I love that Pearson's Mint Patties have gone pink for Valentine's Day! And this isn't a soft bubble gum pink color. No, this is proud and garish pink, just as it should be for the holiday. Same great taste and consistency as the classic (read review of original dark chocolate peppermint patties here). Good for Pearson's!

Valentine's Day Season Has Arrived: Bring on the Jelly Belly Valentine Mix

What a pretty combination of colors in this new Jelly Belly Valentine Mix! The flavors blend well together, too- Very Cherry, Strawberry Cheesecake, Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy, and Coconut. It's a little on the sweet side overall and could use a one more tart flavor in the mix to balance it all out.

Wish List Fulfilled! Sour Patch Kids Stride Gum

Oh my, this new Sour Patch Kids Stride Gum is sooooo delicious! Both the Lime and Redberry flavors taste uncannily like the candy, with that sour exterior that succumbs to an undercurrent of sweet. I'm addicted and have been scouring stores for the gum and buying it in bulk. Sugarless deliciousness! Sour Patch Kids in calorie-free form! Only hitch-the flavor disappears way too quickly and the gum's consistency quickly becomes firm and difficult to chew. If Stride can extend the wonderful flavor, this will be the best gum ever!
